For nearly a century Bells Pies have had the drive and determination to be the best. In the past ten years the company has progressed to secure the position of market leaders with over 60% of the branded fresh meat pie sales in Scotland. Bells have also reached the heights of one of the best-known brands in the Scottish Grocery market. Along side some very big brand names such as Grant’s Whisky, Tunnock’s, Mackie’s Ice Cream and Mothers Pride.
Bells Food Group manufactures 50 tonnes of pastry per week, delivering pastry based baked goods to every corner of the UK and meeting the needs of commercial and domestic customers alike. Bells we have an extensive range of Pies, Pastry and Cake products which are supplied to major supermarkets via us at the Food and Drink Hub.
Their extensive range of products include; Scotch pies, Steak pies, Scotch dumpling, Chicken curry pies, Macaroni pies, Kirriemuir gingerbread and much more.
For over 80s years the Grahams family philosophy is the same as it’s always been: happy, healthy cows make the best-tasting milk. Grahams have an obsession about high standards and well-being. “It’s at the heart of everything we do.”
In 1988 Grahams acquired 20 beautiful Jerseys royal cows from Windsor, The Queens own herd. The herd has now grown to almost 300 cows, grazing on the lush pastures of Stirlingshire and supply the award-winning Graham’s Gold, “the creamiest bottle you’ll find.” Today it is a ‘closed herd’, which means they don’t have to buy cows in, but maintain numbers by breeding from within. This gives them full control over health standards and protects against diseases from outside.
Much of the milk they produce come from black and white Friesians. They’re not as glamorous as the Jersey girls, but they’re strong and dependable and Grahams couldn’t do without all 10,000 of them.
Dr Graham said “My children sometimes say I care more about the cows than them,” And we can confirm they’re certainly well looked after, from vaccinations to collars with a pedometer that carries each cow’s history. The collar also tells them how much milk each gives a day and how much feed she should get. Meaning they can ensure all their herd is fit and healthy and ready to produce one of the finest Milks in the UK. As Dr Graham likes to say, “Happy cows make happy milk – at the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about.
Roberts Fine Food
The Robertson family has been producing quality Scottish pork in the heart of Ayrshire since 1870, with traditional recipes and modern methods that make for the best tasting products.
For five generations, the Robertson family has upheld the Ayrshire tradition of producing the very best Scottish pork. Starting out as ham curers, they became famous in the region for their fine pork products. The family business grew to six butcher shops throughout Ayrshire, and were the go-to supplier for butchers across Scotland—a relationship that remains core to Robertson’s Fine Foods. Today, they’re still known for their delicious bacon and sausages, continuing their heritage of unparalleled quality and great family recipes.
Scottish butchers have always been at the heart of the business, and they’ve been supplying them with our quality pork products for generations. They are proud to continue this partnership, and to be Scotland’s leading producer and supplier of a full range of 100% Scottish pork products, to restaurants and grocers alike. They focus on quality and traceability makes them the supplier of choice for butchers, delicatessens, restaurants and hotels, throughout Scotland and beyond.
Robertson’s are proud to be members of Quality Meat Scotland’s Farm Assured from Scotland scheme, which is supported and approved by the Scottish SPCA. As a top priority, they make sure that their pork comes from pigs which are reared in high quality conditions. This care allows us to deliver the best quality of product to customers. Their craft butchery skills and traditional recipes have been handed down through the family, and are now the only producers of genuine Ayrshire bacon still operating in Ayrshire.
Robertson’s quality smoked meats are prepared in their very own smokehouse, and they only use whole cuts of pork for sausages, with traditional recipes that ensure the succulent texture and full flavour that Roberson’s sausages are famous for.
Mackie’s Crisps have been delighted to work with The Food and Drink Hub over the past couple of years in growing our brand together. During 2017 we saw a 79% increase in sales by working closely with their team.
Over the past year, The Food and Drink Hub have become one of our Top 10 customers from a virtually standing start. This is as a result of working together on a number of on-trade and off-trade opportunities within the Scottish craft beer sector. We look forward to growing our respective business through 2018 and beyond
