Macaroni Cheese

A great Macaroni Cheese recipe that will really impress this upcoming Macaroni Day.

  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 3 tbsp Flour
  • 500ml Milk
  • Marshalls Macaroni
  • 250g Real Arran Cheese – Mixture of Cheeses - grated
  • 1 Garlic Clove, finely chopped
  • Parmesan
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Smoked Paprika
  • Garlic Bread (optional - to serve)

Start by putting a pan of water on the hob and leave to start boiling. Add a pinch of salt and your macaroni.

In another saucepan, melt the butter until it is completely runny. Add the chopped garlic and cook for 1 minute. Stir in the flour. Cook for 1 minute more and then gradually whisk the milk in to the flour mixture until you are left with a lump-free sauce.

Simmer the sauce for 5 minutes, whisking constantly until thickened. Take the sauce off of the heat and add your cheese.

Once you are happy with the taste and consistency of the sauce, drain your macaroni and add to the saucepan.

For an extra oomph, spread the macaroni into an oven proof dish, sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top with some grated parmesan and bake for 20 minutes in the oven.

Sprinkle smoked paprika over the mixture, serve with a slice of garlic bread and enjoy!
